Cash boost for Home-Start volunteers in Potters Bar

Home-Start volunteers who provide help to parents struggling to cope with the stresses of family life have been given a cash boost.

The £2,000 will go towards providing compulsory safety training for Home-Start’s staff and volunteers, and training for its trustees.

Around 40 volunteers currently provide help to parents in Potters Bar and surrounding areas including Radlett, Borehamwood and Elstree.

Councillor Pat Strack said: “Home-Start provides a lifeline for families with small children who, often for reasons not of their own making, may be struggling to cope.”

Twelve of Hertsmere’s Borough Councillors contributed money from the council’s Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme.

Jillian Butchart, chairman of Home-Start Borehamwood and District, said: “We are extremely grateful for this generous help and support.”
