Union representatives and politicians are joining a campaign group to march against council outsourcing in Barnet tomorrow (Saturday).

Guest speakers at the rally, organised by the Barnet Alliance for Public Services (BAPS), include former Labour MP Tony Benn and current London Assembly member for the borough, Andrew Dismore.

Supporters of the campaign will gather at Finchley Central Tube Station at 11am before marching to the Friern Barnet Community Library at midday.

BAPS has organised the march as part of its ongoing campaign against the Conservative council’s plans to outsource millions of pounds worth of public services to save cash.

The action follows a week in which the authority faced a judicial review into its One Barnet scheme at the high court in London, a decision on which is expected after Easter.
