An up-and-coming pop star from Barnet performed in front of more than 10,000 people at a St George’s Day event in Trafalgar Square.

Singer and saxophonist Tyler Rix, 20, who landed a £1million record deal at the age of just 16, played at the Feast of St George Festival on Saturday.

The former pupil at Dame Alice Owens School, in Potters Bar, said he was glad the weather held out for the big event.

Tyler, from Woodside Park, said: “It was incredible, the weather was so perfect and the crowd was fantastic.

“So many people turned up and got involved – they were singing and clapping all the way through.

“It is a strange feeling going out on to a stage in front of so many people but I love it – it is everything I’ve ever wanted to do.”
