Celebrities including Justin Hawkins, lead singer of the Darkness, and Crystal Palace manager Simon Jordan packed out Esher Odeon for a charity performance of the new James Bond movie.

The regional premiere of 007: Casino Royale was held last Wednesday in aid of Surrey-based children's hospice Chase, and was photographed by OK magazine. Aston Martin provided a classic DB9, which was parked outside by the red-carpet, up which guests strolled.

Hospice patron and PR supremo Max Clifford gave a speech praising Chase's work, which supports 260 terminally-ill children not expected to live beyond 19.

Other guests included Faria Allem - famous for her liaison with former England football coach Sven Erikson - were among the 500 guests. She was accompanied by her nieces, Nadia, 16, and Rapha. Rapha, 19, who is studying neuro-science at UCL, said: "I wanted to see Daniel Craig as James Bond and this charity appealed to me."

Esher resident and property developer, Gillian Grundy said: "This is a lovely local event for a very good cause and her friend, Dr Hajra Meer, added: "It is also a good opportunity to socialise."

Singer, Kym Mazelle, who toured with Soul II Soul and won fame with her hit Missing You on the film Romeo and Juliet, said: "I wanted to see the film and support the charity: the kids are great." She is showcasing her new band at the Embassy club in Mayfair on December 9.

And rap artist Ian Wills, from Cobham, added: "The chance to have a great night out and raise money is something else. One feels better by doing something positive. I'm a good friend of Max Clifford. He is a big champion who puts time and effort into the charity for nothing."

Esher businessman, Jonathan Dunne, who sponsored the event, was really pleased.

He said: "The evening went really well and we hope to have raised about £8,000 for the hospice."

Comedian Bobby Davro quipped he was disappointed he didn't get the part of Bond: "I went for the audition and got down to the last three - I haven't been discovered yet," he joked.

And Jackie Collins, spokeswoman for Chase, added: "This event is a fabulous way for Chase to reap the rewards."

Justin Hawkins, who recently had a spell at the Priory, said: "I wanted to come because my friend, Aroon Maharajah invited me and I think it is a good cause.

"I am not working on any music right now, but plan to next year. Right now, I am taking a break."

Chase resident, Sian Tolfree, 11, in her new pink dress, was very excited to be there.

She said: "It is fantastic to be here and I bought this dress specially. I love James Bond"

Also attending were Billy Murray, who plays EastEnders bad guy Johnny Allen, Jimmi Harkishin, who plays Dev in Coronation Street and Justin Hoyte, who scored a goal for England's under-21s the night before.

Max Clifford said: "The whole thing went brilliantly."
