Mill Hill man sentenced to life behind bars for murder of Luke Fitzpatrick
A Mill Hill man has been jailed for life for stabbing a man to death and then attacking his father as he cradled his dying son.
Loen Burton, 17, of Woodcote Avenue in Mill Hill, was sentenced to life in prison at the Old Bailey on Friday for murdering roofer Luke Fitzpatrick, 25, and stabbing his father Bernard, 56, in May last year.
Burton will serve at least 17 years behind bars.
Christopher Walters of Lovett Way in Brent was also sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Luke, and will serve a minimum of 28 years.
Abdi Aziz Hassan, 17 of Warren Road in Brent was sentenced to 11 years in jail for Luke’s manslaughter.
Arsenal fan Luke and his father were in the Ox and Gate pub in Coles Green Road, Neasden on Saturday May 19, 2012, where they had been watching the Champions League Final between Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
The pub was stormed by at least 15 masked and hooded youths armed with sticks and knives.
The attackers were looking for a man who had already left the pub and who had earlier been in a fight with Walters outside a corner shop.
Regulars at the pub, including Luke and Mr Fitzpatrick, chased the group out, but as they reached Alder Grove, the group turned and attacked Luke, who was nearest to them, stabbing him in the chest.
As Mr Fitzpatrick cradled his son, the father was stabbed several times in the abdomen and legs. Mr Fitzpatrick was taken to St Mary's Hospital and underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries. He has since made a full recovery.
Ali Abdallah, 20, of Ainsworth Close in Brent, was jailed for two and a half years, Mustafa Bereima, 20, of Ainsworth Close, was jailed for two years, Hamadi Abdallah, 26, also of Ainsworth Close, was jailed for two years, all for violent disorder.
Raphael De Jesus, 25 of Eldridge Close in Feltham, was sentenced to three years in jail for assisting an offender.
