Acid attack girls from Barnet accepted to university
Both girls who were attacked with acid in Zanzibar have secured university places after passing their A-level examinations.
Katie Gee, of Linden Lea, East Finchley, and Kirstie Trup, of Winnington Road, Hampstead Garden Suburb, were doused in acid last Wednesday while they were working as teachers in the African island.
The 18-year-old friends have both achieved the necessary grades to get into university – with Katie studying sociology at Nottingham and Kirstie accepting a place at Bristol to read history.
Katie took to Twitter to post: “On the plus side I’m off to Nottingham!”
Kirstie and Katie are both due to have skin grafts at Chelsea and Westminster hospital, and it is understood Katie sustained more serious burns.
