Waitrose in Barnet offers free skills training to tackle unemployment
Waitrose in Barnet is offering free skills training to help tackle youth unemployment in the borough.
The supermarket has joined the Feeding Britain’s Future – Skills for Work Month initiative to help more of Barnet's unemployed into work.
Michael Hynes, branch manager at Waitrose Barnet said: "Two fifths of our workforce is under 25 and young people are vital to the success of our business.
“The team here at Waitrose Barnet are really passionate about working with young people to help them develop their understanding of the food industry and inspire them in their endeavours to get into the workplace."
There will be workshops with the supermarket's personnel managers on Thursday, September 26 covering topics including how to complete job applications, mock interview practice and CV writing.
They will also be given the opportunity to find out about career opportunities in the retail industry and take part in product knowledge sessions with a Waitrose specialist in meat and fish, cheese and deli or wine.
