Barnet's libraries get W-fi
Wi-Fi access is now available at all but one of Barnet's libraries.
Thirteen out of 14 libraries have Wi-Fi with East Barnet, Osidge, Mill Hill, Childs Hill and Grahame Park libraries the latest to be added to the list.
Self-service kiosk machines have also been fitted so that visitors can sign out books themselves.
The Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Melvin Cohen, and Councillor Robert Rams, who is responsible for customer access and partnership, will mark the installation of the Wi-Fi and kiosk machines at a visit to East Barnet Library on September 11 from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Councillor Melvin Cohen, the Mayor of Barnet, said: “Libraries are still the centrepieces of our local communities. It is heartening and important to see such important improvements take place and I am sure they will be very popular with the people of Barnet.”
Cllr Rams said: “It is fantastic to know that 99 per cent of Barnet libraries now have Wi-Fi. The council is absolutely committed to adapting our libraries to meet the demands of the ever evolving habits of the modern day visitor.”
The council is working alongside English Heritage to install Wi-Fi and self-service machines at East Finchley library.
