Barnet's Age UK share the screen with Barbara Windsor on ITV's This Morning
Members of Barnet's Age UK enjoyed five minutes of fame when they starred alongside Barbara Windsor on ITV’s This Morning programme.
The former EastEnders actress and Carry On star helped serve tea and cake to elderly people at Age UK Barnet's Ann Owens Centre in East Finchley as part of the programme’s Take a Moment campaign.
Accompanied on the piano by Kelvin Thomson, pianist and director of music at St John’s Church in Friern Barnet, Barbara got the crowd going as she sang old favourites including Maybe it’s Because I’m a Londoner, The Lambeth Walk and When You’re Smiling.
People at Ann Owens Centre joined Barbara in the singsong and some even had the chance to take to the floor and dance with the actress.
The Take a Moment campaign aims to carry out 50,000 acts of kindness including anything from checking on a neighbour to helping someone with their shopping.
For every act of kindness the public inform This Morning about the government will donate £5 to the ITV’s Text Santa, which benefits six UK charities including Age UK.
