Man stabbed and robbed of newly released Grand Theft Auto computer game in Colindale
A man was hit with a brick and stabbed before being robbed of the newly released Grand Theft Auto computer game early today.
The 23-year-old was on his way home from ASDA in Capitol Way, Colindale, after the game had gone on sale at the supermarket at midnight.
But when he reached the junction of Princes Avenue and Stag Lane he was attacked.
Police were called at 1.22am and cordoned off the area as paramedics rushed the man to hospital, where remains in a stable condition.
The victim was also robbed of his watch and mobile phone although police have said the motive for the attack is “unclear”.
Neighbours have expressed their shock at the incident but say robberies happen frequently in the road.
Seventy-one-year-old Dokmai Ratzkei, who has lived in Stag Lane for 31 years, said: “Just after 1am I heard shouting in the street but I didn’t take much notice because people often talk very loudly around here, even in the early hours of the morning.
“It’s scary what has happened. I feel that it’s not safe in this area and I don’t go out after dark. It scares me.
“People often get robbed, particularly in the alleyway which leads to the 24-hour ASDA.
“It’s that bad I’m thinking of moving away from the area.”
Iram Ahmed, who has lived in the street for 18 years, said: “I’m really shocked. We have young children so it’s really scary this has happened on our street.
“I don’t go shopping late at night because it’s not safe – someone could be hiding or watching you.”
