Students give Archer Academy in East Finchley a 'big thumbs up'
A new school has been given a “big thumbs up” by students after opening its doors in East Finchley earlier this month.
Headteacher Mick Quigley and his deputy Lucy Harrison welcomed pupils to the Archer Academy in Beaumont Close a fortnight ago.
Since then pupils have explored their classrooms and got to grips with their timetables.
They have also started planning what to put inside the Archer Academy Time Capsule to commemorate the opening of their new school and have found time to pose for a whole school photo and field a team for their first football match.
Speaking about his first fortnight at the school, Alex Warwick, 11, said: "I have made so many new friends.
And 11-year-old Karina Breen-Cusido said: "Science is really interesting, and it feels so grown up being in a real laboratory."
All 150 places for the first intake have been filled.
An open evening for prospective students will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 6pm to 8.30pm.
There will also be a series of open mornings for Year 6 parents and students starting on October 10. To book a place call 020 8365 4110.
