Neighbours clubbed together to hold a street party to help rebuild community spirit and raise cash for a hospice.

Everyone living in Greenway Close, Willow End and Elmtead Close, Totteridge, was invited to the party on Sunday, September 22.

Businesses in Whetstone High Street donated prizes for the tombola draw, which raised £601 for the North London Hospice.

Children tucked into finger food and played in the middle of the street until the sun set, while their parents mingled with their new friends.

Resident Barbara Jacobson said: “When you move into a new neighbourhood, you probably meet your next-door neighbours fairly soon, but the pace of modern life means it might be difficult to meet anyone living elsewhere on the street.

“We did this to encourage community spirit and to raise money.”
