Third time lucky for charity half-marathon runner Nikki Hancock
An osteopath from Barnet is hoping it will be third time lucky when she takes part in a half marathon to raise money for a children’s charity.
For the past two years Nikki Hancock, 48, has had to pull out of the Royal Parks Foundation race after tearing a gluteal muscle, but is determined to finally complete the 13.1 mile challenge on Sunday, October 6.
Mrs Hancock, who has run Brookmans Park Osteopathy clinic for 14 years, is raising money for Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the UK.
Speaking about why she chose to sponsor the charity Mrs Hancock, of Arkley, said: “I liked the fact that it was about raising money to raise the spirits and morale of sick children by granting them wishes.
“This year I am stronger and fitter and hope to complete it in under two hours. Let's hope it's third attempt lucky.”
