No recycling collections next week in preparation for new in-house Barnet Council system
Recycling will not be collected from homes in Barnet next week in preparation for a switch to a new system.
The council’s new in-house waste and recycling scheme, for which blue and brown bins were sent out to thousands of homes over recent weeks, is due to start on October 14.
And while staff receive training in methods and routes for the new system, collections will be temporarily halted for a week from Monday.
Barnet council says residents should not place recycling in their old bins, which will be collected along with the waste in the new containers from next week.
Councillor Dean Cohen, who is responsible for bin collection, said: “We are making major changes this month and I hope residents will stay patient over the next couple of weeks as the new service beds in.
“We want to take this opportunity for all of our staff to familiarise themselves with the new vehicles and routes, so that they can deliver a high quality service to residents.”
