Children's social club Barnet Woodcraft Folk handed National Lottery Award
A club where children can make friends while learning about current affairs has been handed a grant.
Barnet Woodcraft Folk, in Huntly Drive, West Finchley, were given £3,300 from the National Lottery Fund to help pay for its activities over the next year.
The weekly club teaches children about important issues, including the environment, world debt and global conflict in a safe and comfortable environment.
Naomi Koppel, co-ordinator for the Central Barnet district: “We are delighted to be awarded this money.
“It covers our major regular expenses for the year, so we don’t have to worry about where those funds are coming from and are free to concentrate on running activities for the children and promoting the Woodcraft Folk.”
The money will cover the cost of hall rental, purchase materials for sessions, leader training and attendance at the organisation's annual conference.
Children aged 12 and below can take part in a free taster session on Friday, October 18 at Gordon Hall, Huntly Drive, West Finchley, from 5.30pm to 6.45pm.
Leaders will also be available to provide information about the group for 13 to 15-year-olds.
For more information call Naomi on 07910 141791.
