Potters Bar district football team given cash boost for tours to Plymouth and Newcastle
An under-11s football team that represents Potters Bar at district level has received a grant of £500.
The team, made up of Year 6 pupils from schools across the town, was given the cash by Councillor Peter Knell from his locality budget.
Members of Hertfordshire County Council are given £1,000 to hand out to community projects of their choice as part of the scheme.
The money is timely since the team goes on tour in Plymouth this month and will tour Newcastle in April 2014.
As well as paying for the tour's costs, the money will be used to buy new equipment, provide meals for the teams at home games and pay for tournaments and referees.
