Cadets help doctors from the Speedwell Practice, Finchley, with flu jab event
Cadets gave up their weekends to help doctors spread the message about the importance of having a flu jab.
Teenagers and children from Barnet spent Saturday with GPs from the Speedwell Practice, Torrington Park, North Finchley, to encourage people to have the injection.
During the day, more than 700 people had the injection, which is available to people aged over 65, who are pregnant or have a long term health condition.
All GP surgeries in Barnet offer the jab and people can make an appointment with their regular practice.
Dr Clare Stephens, a Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group board member and GP at The Speedwell Practice, said: “Flu can knock even the healthiest people off their feet so, if you are in one of the at risk groups, as a GP and a mother, it’s really important you get the jab.
“The flu jab is completely safe, it’s free, and it can’t give you flu. It could save you a trip to hospital and, let’s not forget, flu can be really serious so it could save your life too.”
