Hungarian national Laszlo Gyarmati pleads not guilty to murdering woman found in suitcase
A Hungarian national has pleaded not guilty to murdering a woman whose body was found in a suitcase.
Laszlo Gyarmati, of Station Road, Finchley, attended a plea and case management hearing at the Central Criminal Court this morning.
The 29-year-old wore a light grey sweat top and matching sweatpants and was accompanied by a Hungarian interpreter.
Standing in the dock he told the court he was not guilty of murdering fellow Hungarian national Alexandra Kovacs.
The 25-year-old’s body was discovered in a suitcase in woods alongside Dollis Brook in Thornfield Avenue, Mill Hill, on Sunday July 21 this year.
Mr Gyarmati is accused of murdering Ms Kovacs between July 17 and July 22.
He has been remaded in custody and will stand trial at the Central Criminal Court on January 13, 2014. The trial is expected to last no longer than two weeks.
