Zumba and craft stall at North Finchley festival
A free arts festival to help boost a north London high street will take place next week.
The North Finchley Community Arts Festival on Saturday, Octobr 26, will include music, a group Zumba lesson, craft stalls, a public piano and T-shirt painting.
Volunteers will also make the longest paper doll chain down the length of North Finchley High Street in tribute to a new book by artist Julia Donaldson, Paper Dolls.
The all-day festival has been organised by the Town Team, a group of people determined to rebuild the high street and boost trade.
The event will showcase the area's diverse shops and aims to bring the community together.
Darren Shea, chairman of the North Finchley Town Team, said: “This is a great opportunity for North Finchley to come together and raise the profile of its fantastic businesses and community groups to the wider population of north London, and for the local people to show off their amazing, but maybe hidden, artistic talents.”
The festival has been organised after a £1million grant from Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s Outer London Fund to help encourage footfall on the high street.
Councillor David Longstaff, cabinet member for safety and resident engagement, said: “This event is a great way of showcasing what North Finchley has to offer and I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and get involved.”
