A private tutor from Finchley has pleaded guilty to possessing more than 4,800 indecent images of children.
Christopher Haverly, 49, of The Drive, Finchley, appeared at Wood Green Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 23 counts of possession of indecent images today.
The counts vary from levels one to five, with five being the most serious, and refer to a mixture of still and moving images.
Mr Haverly was charged on Sunday, October 6 and appeared in court wearing a khaki-coloured T-shirt today.
Mr Haverly was born in South Africa and also has links to Sweden, Hungary, Thailand and Finland, where he was in a relationship before moving to England in 2005.
As a private tutor he teaches around six children a week, earning between £30 and £40 per lesson.
After pleading guilty, the court was told Mr Haverly is also being investigated over allegations of grooming children, and a laptop has been removed from his home and is being scanned for pornography.
He has been remanded in custody to appear for sentencing on Monday, November 18.
