Sign up to blood donor register in Edgware
More than 1,000 people are needed to help save lives in new blood donation research.
Edgware’s NHS Blood and Transplant centre, in Westgate House, Burnt Oak, is looking for new volunteers to take part in research to determine how frequently people can give blood.
The Edgware center has 1,881 donors - but a further 1,385 are needed to help it reach its target.
Shilpa Patel, the session manager for London north and west, said: “For years, many of our donors here in London – particularly the male ones – have told us they would give blood more often if they could.
“Now is their chance to potentially do so – some men taking part in the study will be randomly allocated to donate six times a year and some women four times per year.” Anyone wishing to take part must be able to give blood at the centre, be 18 years or over and have access to the internet with a valid email address.
