Mayor of Barnet takes tour of new school site in Mill Hill
The Mayor of Barnet was given a tour of the site where the borough’s newest primary school is being built ready for next year’s intake.
Councillor Melvin Cohen visited Millbrook Park Primary School at the former Inglis Barracks site in Mill Hill which is due to be ready by September next year.
Once complete, there will be a new three-form entry school with a full size all weather football pitch for community use and a multi-use games area.
There will also be a nursery on site which will provide places for 39 children.
The Mayor said: “I’ve been impressed by my tour of the site and I’m sure once it’s built, Millbrook Park primary will add to our already impressive list of schools. I look forward to seeing it when the first intake of pupils walk through the door.”
The council signed a £10.7million contract for the school with Kier London, which is being part-funded by developers of the Millbrook Park development.
Between 2009 and 2013 the council has spent £88million on expanding or rebuilding primary and secondary schools and aims to spend an additional £49million for further expansions across the borough.
