The post-storm clean up in Barnet is continuing today as council workers focus their efforts on mopping up the remaining debris.

Some walkways and pavements across the borough remain covered after numerous trees were felled and fences and fittings were damaged in the St Jude’s storm gale-force winds.

The council responded to more than 130 separate incidents from a total of 150 calls relating to fallen trees and flooding after the storm hit in the early hours.

Tree officers are continuing to carry out inspections at council-owned parks, which are only being reopened after the safety checks are completed.

Councillor Dean Cohen, cabinet member for environment, said the clean-up operation had been “a good team effort in difficult conditions”.
