Lorry driver arrested for seriously injuring three road workers on M25
A lorry driver has been arrested after his vehicle overturned on the M25 and seriously injured three road workers.
One of the men was rushed to a hospital in Cambridgeshire where he remains in a critical condition after the vehicle crashed in the central reservation between junction 24 and junction 25 at around 9.24am.
A second man was airlifted to a central London hospital where he also remains in a serious condition.
The final road worker is being treated at the same hospital for a leg injury.
No other cars were involved in the accident and all the other workers have been accounted for.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The crash resulted in the M25 being closed in both directions between junction 23 and junction 25 for most of the day.
All traffic has now been cleared but the motorway remains closed between junctions 24 and 25.
The police have now completed their investigation of the scene and the Highways Agency are now overseeing vehicle recovery and completing any necessary repairs to the road.
