A man has been jailed after robbing a 14-year-old boy at a railway station.

Zamari Steadford, 20, of Glebelands Close, Finchley, was among a gang of four men who were found guilty of robbing the teenager of his mobile phone and wallet at West Dulwich station.

Woolwich Crown Court heard how the men, who are between 18 and 22 years old, were standing by the ticket barriers shortly after 4pm in November last year when the boy arrived at the station.

As he made his way to platform one, the four men followed him and demanded he hand over his iPhone.

Fearing for his safety, the teenager did as they said before the group told him to hand over any money he had.

As he searched in his wallet for change, one of the group snatched it from his hands.

Meanwhile a passenger on another platform who witnessed the robbery contacted police.

As the men heard police sirens they attempted to run away but all four were arrested close to the station.

After a search of the area, the victim’s iPhone and wallet were found.

The men were sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, November 20 after pleading not guilty.

Steadford was sentenced to 12 months in prison for his part in the crime.
