Film critic Mark Kermode returned to his favourite cinema to meet fans and sign copies of his new book.

Mr Kermode appeared in front of a full house at the Phoenix Cinema, in High Road, East Finchley, last night to discuss movies and answer questions from the audience.

He then signed copies of his new book, Hatchet Job: Love Movies, Hate Critics.

Mr Kermode, who presents the BBC Five Live film show with Simon Mayo and is the chief film critic of the Observer newspaper, grew up in East Finchley and cites the Phoenix as his favourite cinema. He is also a patron of the venue.
