Streets will come to life when a mixture of cultures come together to celebrate food from around the world.

North Finchley High Road will turn into a food market on the last Saturday of every month to help bring the community together.

Local restaurants will be showcasing different types of food on stalls which will be set up across the high street.

Deborah Efemini, North Finchley Feast manager, said: “It’s a really great idea and something I think everyone here will love.

“It’s going to help the economy in North Finchley and bring a different offer. It’s a great way to get local restaurants involved. There will be a real mixture of people.

“There’s a huge appetite for this in the area.”

It was launched after a consultation by Barnet Council earlier this year showed people were keen to see a food market in the borough.

Stallholders will come from the Barnet area and from a similar street market, spearheaded by Ms Efemini, in Catford.

The first North Finchley Feast will be held on December 14 and will be free for stallholders.

She added: “I am really excited about this - I hope it creates a real buzz in the community.”
