An extraordinary council meeting will be held to commemorate the life and work of Nelson Mandela.
Councillors will pay tribute to South Africa’s first black president at Hendon Town Hall on January 21 at 6pm, before a full council meeting at 7pm.
Barnet Labour Group motioned for the meeting to take place, during which they plan to call for a Nelson Mandela Memorial Lecture to be heard annually during Barnet's Black History Month.
Mr Mandela, who spent 27 years behind bars for his political actions, died aged 95 last Thursday.
