An unusual Lego crown and jewels were stolen after burglars smashed their way into a home.

Thieves broke into the house in Carpenter Way, Potters Bar, by smashing a window at the rear of the house.

As well as stealing the Lego set, they also took a man’s 22-carat gold ring, set with three diamonds, a woman’s 14-carat gold bracelet, which has two rows of sapphires and small diamonds, and a nine-carat cluster ring.

The burglars also took an antique silver pocket watch with a Maltese star shaped pendant, another pendant engraved with either WHG or WMG, and a sovereign coin dated 1979.

Detective Sergeant David Smith, who is investigating the burglary, said: “These items are of huge sentimental value to the victim and are quite distinctive, particularly the Lego jewels and pocket watch.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows of their whereabouts, or have been offered them for sale, to contact me.

“Also, if anyone was around the area at the time of the incident, and saw something unusual or suspicious, I would ask you to get in touch with me as soon as possible.”
