Charities and community groups can apply for grants to help get elderly people dancing.

Barnet Council’s public health team are offering sums of between £250 to £750 to kick-start or expand existing in the borough.

Councillor Helena Hart, cabinet member for the environment, said: “It is really important that as people get older they stay just as active as they possibly can.

“A relatively small amount of funding can help unlock a great deal of potential so I’m delighted these grants will be playing their part in helping not only to keep people healthy and active but also to be able to socialise at the same time.”

Activities could include tai-chi, gardening or bowling.

The deadline for applications is January 10, 2014 at 5pm. For more information click here.
