A scheme which gives disabled people more say over how money is spent on their care will continue after a successful trial period.

Barnet Council launched the 'Right to Control' Scheme three years ago, which gives disabled people the chance to have their say on how money allocated to them is spent.

The trial began three years ago and it has been supported by the Job Centre, Barnet Homes and the Barnet Centre for Independent Living (BCIL).

Councillor Sachin Rajput, Cabinet Member for Adults, said: “Right to Control proved itself to be a really effective way of helping people to live as independently as possible, and in making sure that the support on offer is right for them and driven by them.”

More than 300 residents have taken part in the scheme.
