The Congestion Charge in central London could be increased by 15 per cent under plans put forward by Transport for London.
The capital’s transport provider wants to raise the daily £10 fee for those travelling inside the designated zone to £11.50.
The increase, TfL says, will raise an additional £84million by 2017/18, which would be spent on improving the transport network.
Under TfL’s proposals, on which it is holding a public consultation, daily charges for using the CC Auto Pay system would increase from £9 to £10.50 if paid on the day, or £14 if paid the following day.
TfL says the increase brings the congestion charge in line with inflation when compared with other transport cost increases over time.
A ten-week public consultation on the plans ends on March 14. To have your say visit www.tfl.gov.uk/ccyourviews or telephone 0844 544 9780 for an information leaflet.
