A scheme which aims to make an area of East Finchley an “even better place to live” is looking for people to help launch it.

The Grange Estate was given a £1million lottery grant to help revitalise the area under its national Big Local Project.

Volunteers have already come forward to help start the project, and they are now looking for an organisation or an individual to help manage it.

Big Local representative Paul Bragman said: “It’s a vibrant and mixed community with loads of potential, but we really need this to help make it an even better place to live.

“We are an informal group and a friendly bunch. Having someone oversee the project will give it more structure and allow us to achieve our full potential.”

The new role will include assist managing a team of ambassadors and compiling a community profile with the Local Trust requirements.

Residents have been responding to a consultation to identify the areas of need and the way the money should be spent.

Many feel there should be more for children and teenagers to do, and others have suggested opening a community centre.

Money will go towards the Font Hills and Thomas More estates.

Mr Bragman added: “It’s a very exciting project and East Finchley is a lovely area. Hopefully this will bring more good things to it.”
