A Queens Park Rangers footballer dedicated his first professional goal to a fellow academy player who was murdered outside an Edgware school as a teenager.

Kiyan Prince was fatally stabbed by fellow pupil Hannad Hasan when he tried to intervene in a mock fight outside the gates of the London Academy, in Spur Road, in May 2006.

His QPR academy colleague Michael Harriman, who is currently on loan at League One side Gillingham, last night dedicated his first professional goal to his “best mate”.

Harriman scored the second goal in a 2-0 win over Swindon Town and said after the match: “I always said that when I scored my first goal I’d dedicate it to my best mate Kiyan Prince, who sadly passed away a few years ago.

“That one was for him – I know he’s watching me up there.”

Kiyan was a promising young footballer who had signed for QPR at the age of 13, just two years before his death, aged 15.
