Pupils from a Barnet school batted away the competition to win a schools’ table tennis championship.
The girls under-19 team from the North London Collegiate School in Edgware won the third annual Jack Petchey Foundation London schools table tennis team finals on Saturday.
The competition, hosted by the English Table Tennis Association, was held at the University of East London and featured students from 46 schools in age groups from under-11s to under-19s.
The Edgware school’s winning team of Michelle Mui,14, Maria Wang, 15, Sophie Tofalides and Anisha Rasan, both 17, are self-coached and play at the school club on Fridays.
Sophie said “We feel very pleased to take the title. It’s a quality competition and we would like our club to get more involved and bring in a coach.”
