Children will be able to try arts and crafts - and meet a Shetland pony - as part of celebrations of the Chinese New Year.

Shoppers at The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware will celebrate the event in style at a themed event to mark the start of the Year of the Horse.

The centre teamed up with SAI Dance School, in Harrow, and Elstree-based Penniwells Riding for the Disabled.

From 1pm to 3pm, SAI will offer little shoppers the chance to take part in specially themed arts and crafts workshops.

And to bring the year of the horse to life, people can meet Penniwells mascot Sunny the Shetland pony in the car park.

Centre manager Angela Brooks said: “We are proud to be at the heart of such a multi-cultural town and we try and support as many religious celebrations as possible throughout the year.

“We are delighted to be working with the SAI School of Harrow and Penniwells Riding for the Disabled Group for our Chinese New Year celebrations and I hope that our shoppers enjoy the range of activities on offer throughout the day.”

It will be held all day on Saturday, February 1.
