A student from New Barnet will represent the borough after winning a public speaking competition.
Jamy Bristol, from the Jewish Community Secondary School (JCoSS), in Castlewood Road, won Barnet’s Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge, held at Barnet College on Wednesday.
The 15-year-old was chosen from 21 pupils from other schools including Hasmonean High, Henrietta Barnet, and Mill Hill County.
Judges said Jamy gave a “moving, honest and mature” speech about her personal experience of living with a chronic illness.
The Speak Out Challenge, organised by the Jack Petchey Foundation and the Speakers Trust, invites every state secondary school in London and Essex to take part in the hope of building young people’s confidence.
The grand finals will take place in the summer term.
