A Team GB Paralympic table tennis champion helped raise £3,000 for a Hendon-based charity supporting people with learning disabilities.

David Wetherill, who competed at the Games in Beijing and London, was the special guest at the event, organised by Young Kisharon, the fundraising arm of Kisharon, on Sunday.

The Sheffield-based 24-year-old, who suffers from a rare bone development disorder, joined more than 100 people at Bounce bar, in Holborn, for the fundraiser, which involved lots of socialising and some friendly table tennis competition.

Young Kisharon chairman Eli Younger, 25, said: “It’s been a fantastic evening with good vibes.  We have all been inspired by David Wetherill and feel touched that he came to London especially for us.

“He’s a great player, a good sport, and I enjoyed being on his team.  David has demonstrated what Kisharon is all about - that people with disabilities can achieve great things.”
