More than half of the people who took part in a Times Series poll support regeneration at Brent Cross shopping centre.
A total of 279 people gave their views in an online vote on the £4billion project, the biggest planning application in the history of north west London, which was approved last week.
Although many have spoken against the proposals - a total of 54 per cent of voters said they support the development.
But 46 per cent of people are against the plans to turn the shopping centre into a West-End type retail park, dubbed the “jewel in Barnet’s crown”.
During last week’s planning meeting at Hendon Town Hall, many criticised the proposed 'living Bridge', a new pedestrian and cycle route across the North Circular Road.
Others feared plans to concrete over Cricklewood Green Space would mean losing the area's only “lung” to pollution.
But developers Standard Life and Hammerson called it a “major step” towards turning the area into a “thriving new town”.
