Barnet’s police will run a recruitment event next week to encourage more people to sign up for the force.

Officers, special constables, cadets and recruitment staff will talk to the community about the different roles available in the Metropolitan Police at the centre court at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on Friday, February 21 from 10am to 8pm.

PC James Beattie, one of the officers organising the event, said: “We’re currently recruiting for new police constables, volunteer special constables and police cadets, and the Met is committed to becoming a service that looks and feels more like our diverse capital city.

“I joined the Metropolitan Police as a constable last year on the Met’s Graduate Scheme after seven years serving as a volunteer police officer. I’m keen to show Londoners what fantastic opportunities there are in the Metropolitan Police for people of all backgrounds.

“We need a whole range of skills and experiences in our ranks to best serve the people of London.

“I’ve had fantastic experiences since joining the Met and now can’t imagine doing anything else. I really love what I do.”

There will also be an opportunity to see inside one of the Met’s new response cars, which will take pride of place in the centre court.
