A mobile app has been created to cut unnecessary A&E arrivals by directing NHS patients to the correct services.

People in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey can download the free software, which helps them decide which NHS service they need and where to go.

Names, locations and opening hours of every pharmacy and GP, walk-in and urgent care centres and A&Es are all contained in the app.

NHS directors hope the technology, which is available in English, Turkish, Polish and Somali, will cut the number of unnecessary arrivals at A&E departments across the three boroughs.

Dr Sherry Tang, Haringey CCG chairman and local GP, said: “This is a really welcome use of technology and we are excited to be able to bring it to the people of our three boroughs.

“We hope that having such useful information at their fingertips will help patients decide what NHS service they may need and help us reduce pressure on our extremely busy A&E departments, allowing staff there to focus on the most serious cases.”
