Organisers of a community project aimed at bringing people together and setting up local activities will launch a pop-up shop in East Finchley today.

East Finchley Altogether Better (EFAB) will be based in the foyer of Finchley Youth Theatre in High Road from 10am to 2pm to hear what ideas residents have for the area.

EFAB was established by volunteers who want to encourage people to get projects up and running which they feel will help benefit the area.

It is jointly funded by Barnet Council and the NHS, and is supported by the Barnet Older People’s Assembly as part of the council’s Ageing Well programme.

The pop-up shop will help showcase some of the projects already up and running, and provide a chance to hear people’s views about what is needed in the area, on what is already happening and whether there are any activities or groups that they are keen to join.

The shop will also be open for suggestions on Friday February 21 between 10am and 2pm, and on Monday, February 24, Tuesday, February 25 and Thursday, February 27 between 2pm and 6pm.

Councillor Graham Old, Barnet Council’s ageing well champion, said: “It’s extremely pleasing to see how much has already been achieved and I am sure there is still a tremendous amount of potential out there.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to come along to the EFAB pop up shop and see how they can get involved.”
