The next generation of aspiring politicians who want to shape the future of the borough are up for election.

Teenagers and children across Barnet are ready to compete for four roles in the UK Youth Parliament, to represent the borough at annual meetings, the annual sitting and the House of Commons debate.

They will also have the chance to influence local and national businesspeople, leaders and politicians.

The parliament helps people age between 11 to 18 to gain diplomatic, communications and negotiation skills.

Two candidates will be elected as Members for Youth Parlimament, and two will be Deputy Members for Youth Parliament.

Thirty eight candidates from 20 schools will be standing for election but schools without candidates are also encouraged to vote.

Results will be announced on the March 12, from 7pm to 8pm at the North London Business Park.
