A synagogue will open its doors to people from the wider Jewish community at a ceremony to celebrate its new rabbinical team.

Sha’arei Tsedek, in Oakleigh Road, Whetstone, will hold a special event to welcome Rabbi Judith Levitt into the congregation.

Rabbi Levitt was appointed to the role last year, and will work alongside veteran Rabbi Colin Eimer and Rabbi James Baaden.

The synagogue is one of the first to have a team of rabbis in favour of the traditional ‘sole practitioner’ mode.

After taking on the role last August, Rabbi Levitt told the Times Series: “As a rabbi, I’d like to make a difference to the community.

“It’s important to support new and upcoming rabbis – if there are any other women interested, don’t be afraid to follow your dream.”

The three rabbis will lead sessions at a Torah breakfast on Saturday, March 1, at 9.15am, before the main service at 10.30am.
