Hairdressing students drew on cultures from around the world in a competition with a trip to a European capital as its prize.
Barnet and Southgate College celebrated National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from March 3 to 7, by asking their pupils to create a unique and different hairstyle.
The competition theme was ‘the world we live in’ featuring four categories - Europe, Africa, Asia and Americas.
Priscila Barradas, 20, was announced as the overall winner and will compete in the finals in April for the chance to win a trip to Madrid.
She chose Portugal as her theme as it is her home country, and her hair design focused on fishing and the sea.
She said: “I only joined the college a few months ago and left Portugal six months ago to start a career here in hairdressing as it’s what I really enjoy. The training at Barnet and Southgate College is outstanding.
“It’s great to be here and I can’t believe I’ve won and now I can’t wait for the final next month.”
