A teenager was left shaken after being sexually assaulted as she walked along a busy road.

The girl was passing through Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, when an Asian man approached her and began speaking to her, before touching her inappropriately.

He is described as aged around 19 or 20, of average build and around 5ft 6ins tall, with short black hair and facial stubble.

He was wearing a burgundy quilted jacket and jeans, and it is believed he was with a group of men at the time of the assault.

The girl may have spoken to a woman in Laurel Avenue after the incident and police are keen to make contact with her.

Assistant investigator Sally Johnson said: “Understandably the victim has been left shaken by this incident, but thankfully not hurt. We are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the area at the stated times.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw a distressed teenage girl or a group of males in the area at the time of, prior to or after the incident.

"Equally, if you think you were in the group mentioned, please contact me immediately as you may have information that is vital to the investigation.”
