Hertfordshire County Council is launching a morning and evening bus service to connect Shenley with Elstree and Borehamwood Station at the end of this month.
The service, which will begin with a six-month trial, was paid for with the help of Councillor Morris Bright, who donated £1,714 from his locality budget, which the council matching his contribution.
Cllr Morris, who represents Potters Bar West and Shenley, said: “Residents in Shenley have told us that they need assistance in being able to commute and get to work.
"We must do all we can to assist in these difficult times and I am happy to part fund a new commuter service for an initial trial to see if it benefits Shenley, before taking a longer term view about the new service.”
