Sunshine, drama and music made it a Persian New Year to remember in Golders Green today.
Dozens of families turned out to Trinity Church in Hodford Road where children from the Saam Theatre Company performed a special play to mark the occasion.
Soussan Farrokhnia, director of the theatre group, said: “Our speciality is to teach language through drama so we thought it would be nice to put on a play in Persian for the event.
“During the play Martians pay a surprise visit to Iran where they meet some Iranian families. We wanted something that was a bit different that the children would also enjoy performing.”
Eleven-year-old Alisha-Mey Farzad Nejad played one of the Iranian girls in the production. She said: “Because it’s Iranian New Year we thought it would be good for everyone to see us acting and having fun.
“I love acting because I like expressing myself on stage. It’s really fun.”
After the performance, guests were treated to some traditional Iranian music and food.
