A pair of opticians who have assessed astigmatisms and fitted frames for almost three decades between them have been rewarded for their long service.

Store director Pragna Raghwani, and Sajida Gitay, optical assistant and clinic coordinator at Specsavers in High Street, Barnet, have great memories from their 28 years working at the store.

Over the years they have helped to save the sight of some of their customers, hosted a red day in aid of the British Heart Foundation, and delivered specs to elderly customers who were unable to come in to store to collect them.

Ms Raghwani said: “I took over the store full of aspirations and I have not been disappointed. There is never a dull moment and I have seen the store go from strength to strength. I feel very lucky to have such a great team and great customers.”

Ms Gitay, who has worked at the store for 12 years, said: “I honestly can’t believe where the time has gone. I can remember my first day here like it was yesterday. I’m on first name terms with lots of our customers and I can’t help but wonder what I’ll be doing in the next 12 years, but I hope to see lots of familiar faces in store.”
