A Hendon bike shop is collecting second hand bicycles to provide life-changing and affordable transport to communities in Africa.
Halfords, in The Hyde, has teamed up with charity Re-Cycle and is offering ten per cent off new bikes to anyone who can donate their old one.
Suitable bikes will be shipped to Africa, where they will be given to health workers to reach communities in need, help children get to school, parents get to jobs and farmers transport goods to market.
The charity is predominantly looking for sturdy mountain bikes for teenagers and adults, though all bikes, including children’s, that are in a reasonable condition with less that 25 per cent rust will be accepted.
